Bellbird | Korimako garden trends have been consistently stable for the 10-year periods monitored so far.
While bellbirds | korimako have remained stable in gardens overall (since our 10-year assessments began in 2017), trends on the North Island have dropped (with shallow to moderate declines emerging from 2020 onwards across the central belt), but on the South Island, shallow declines have emerged in Tasman gardens.
Bellbirds are twice as likely to be seen in rural gardens than urban ones, and more likely to be seen if birds are fed.
