Popularity of wild bird feeding goes sky high

COVID-19 has resulted in many people around the world now placing greater value on the wellbeing effects of time spent in nature.

In New Zealand this has been apparent in the noticeable increase in purchases of wild bird feed and feeders – a trend Oamaru-based pet feed brand Topflite puts down to a general change in priorities.

“People are planting more trees, they’re putting up more feeders and they’re predator trapping too,” says Greg Webster, Topflite’s general manager. “There’s far more education out there about why this is so important too.”
