The NZ Garden Bird Survey children’s colouring competition is back!
How to enter
- Take part in this year’s Garden Bird Survey with your family, whanau, youth group or school.
- Download and print bird outlines for colouring »
- Unleash your creativity and colour your birds however you like.
- Photograph or scan your entry, and upload it via the form (on this page once the survey starts). Please note – images. must be jpg, png, or gif.
- PDF files cannot be loaded.
- Increase your chances by sharing your entry!
- Entries opens on Saturday 29 June 2024 and closes midnight Monday 22 July.

- 6 and under
- 7-11
- 12-15
Prize details
People’s choice:
- All age categories: Topflite Nectar Feeder and Garden Bird Supporters’ Pack for the winner of each age category.
Artistic merit:
- 6 and under: Spiral A4 sketch pad, a set of 12 Luna Jumbo coloured pencils, a set of 12 EC Master Mega Markers, and a Topflite Garden Bird Supporters’ Pack.
- 7-11, and 12-15: A4 visual diary and a set of 24 Staedtler Noris Club Aquarell Watercolour Pencils with paintbrush, and a Topflite Garden Bird Supporters’ Pack.
Announcement of winners
- Prize winners will be announced late-July (date to be confirmed) on this page, on the NZGBS Facebook and Instagram channels, and via the NZ Garden Bird Survey newsletter.
